About

Some people collect souvenirs when they travel. I collect stories. My name is Syam Indra Pratama, an Indonesian journalist, editor, and independent publisher who believes that every person, every community, and every industry has a story worth remembering.
Since 2010, I've been building independent media, not because it was easy, but because I wanted to create spaces where meaningful conversations could live longer than today's headlines.

Today, I serve as the Editor in Chief of Hudes Magazine, a worldwide magazine dedicated to manual coffee culture. Through long-form interviews, I've had the privilege of speaking with remarkable people from more than 39 countries. Baristas, coffee producers, roasters, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, and innovators. Every conversation reminds me that coffee is rarely just about coffee. More often, it's about resilience, identity, craftsmanship, and the pursuit of something meaningful.

My work goes beyond interviewing people. I'm passionate about building media, developing editorial ideas, and creating publications that value depth over speed. I believe good journalism isn't measured by how quickly a story is published, but by how long it remains relevant. I don't chase viral stories.

I'm more interested in timeless ones. The kind of stories that people still enjoy reading years later because they reveal something true about the human experience.

Outside the newsroom, I enjoy manual coffee brewing, reading, exploring branding and digital publishing, and thinking about how independent media can continue to earn people's trust in an increasingly noisy world.

This website is my digital home, a place where I share my writing, interviews, ideas, projects, and everything I'm learning along the way. If you've found your way here, thank you.

I hope you leave with a story worth carrying.
